980M Laptops For Extreme Gamers

Don’t have a budget? Ready to join the big leagues?
Lets take a look at some of the most ridicules 980m Laptops out there.. even 980m SLI laptops. Alright so you are in the market for the best gaming machine out there and you need the best GPU that money can buy. Currently the 980m is at the top and its the best that you can get in a laptop, but if you need more power you can always go for a 980m sli set up. Yes! thats right, there are laptops that offer 2x980m gpu’s for you extreme gamers.
Keep in mind 980m Laptops will start close to 2k and can go well over 3k especially if you are looking at SLI. But, if you are looking for a gaming laptop to replace your desktop full time than its worth getting the best that you can afford.

First in line is the almighty beast.. The GT80 Titan SLI which everyone has heard of. This gaming laptop has everything you can think of.. even a mechanical keyboard. Its the god of 980m laptops packing a powerful i7 5950HQ with two 980m graphics cards in SLI and 24gb of ram. The mechanical keyboard has cherry mx brown switches and is back lit, an awesome feature that you don’t find many laptops with.
Did I mention that it has a huge 18.4in display? Thats right, gaming just got a whole lot better on laptops. One concern I have is the 1920×1080 resolution on a 18.4in screen. Considering the power of the GT80 it would be nice to see 4k res.
Overall you can not go wrong with the GT80 Titan, its the perfect desktop replacement on the go. There are a few variations that you can get which include different processors, amount of ram and storage. Depending on how much you are looking to spend you can get one for $3300 or spend as much as $3800. Which ever one you get, I am sure you will be satisfied!

Coming soon we got the new ASUS ROG G752VY-DH72 which includes the 6th gen intel i7 2.6ghz processor, 32gb of ram, and a GTX 980m Graphic card. The new style of the G752 makes this laptop stand out with its orange color accents and a transparent cooling panel underneath. This model will cost you $2599 but there are a few versions available and the price varies.

If you can not wait for the G752 there are other 980m laptops to look at, such as the ASUS G751JY-DB72 which is very similar, but is the older version. The G751 comes with an i7 4720HQ processor, 24GB of ram and of course a GTX 980m Graphic card. Still has plenty of power and will save you money! The G751 values at $1899, and might be a better deal if you don’t want to break the bank.

Another great choice from MSI is the GT72s Dominator Pro G and is one of the gaming laptops I was looking to buy. I found that it had a good balance of hardware, everything I was looking for but without the ridicules price tag.
Usually when looking at 980m laptops the price can get pretty steep. However, the GT72s managed to offer good specs with a decent price. It packs a powerful 6th gen skylake i7 6820HK combined with 16gb of ram and a GTX 980m GPU. All this for only $2199, which is a very good price compared to other 980m laptops.
MSI GT72s Dominator Pro G Overview: $2199
– i7 6820HK 2.7ghz Quad Core
– GTX 980M
– 16GB DDR4 2133mhz
– 128GB SSD/1TB HD 7200rpm
– 17.3in Display 1920×1080 G-Sync
So you noticed that this gaming laptop only has 16gb of ram, but 16gb is more than enough for gaming. 24gb, 32gb and 64gb is overkill if you are just looking to play games. Sure it gives you the bragging rights to say you have 64gb of ram but you will never use that much.
Moving on we have the Sager NP9870s which is a pretty sweet laptop and let me tell you why. It offers what non of the other laptops have so far… can you guess? No its not the processor, although it does have an i7 6700k which is impressive but even more impressive is the GTX 980 GPU. It has desktop performance graphics which is incredible, don’t get it confused with the 980m.
The NP9870s will run you $2799 however, Sager does have a few other models that are as low as $1749 and still have the 980m graphics and 8Gb of ram. One more laptop I would like to mention is the Origin EON17-X, you can go on their website and customize everything you want in the laptop. After doing that and picking the i7 6700k, 16GB of ram, and a 980m gpu my total was $2554.

– i7 6700k 4ghz Quad Core
– 980m
– 16GB DDR4 2133mhz
– 1TB HD 7200rpm
– 17.3in Display 1920×1080 G-Sync
Finally, I had to throw this one in here as its one of the thinnest 17.3in gaming laptops that shelters a 980m inside. Only 22mm thick the Gigabyte P37X V4 is a remarkable machine. Not only is it thin but has an i7 5700HQ, 16GB of ram and a 980m gpu. Its a nice substitute to the thick gaming machines, especially if you plan to move around with it a lot. Coming in at a decent price of $2149 it was hard to leave this one out.
