Rumors, rumors, rumors.

The Internet is full of rumors that Google will be releasing its Chrome Operating System pretty soon. Supposedly in the next couple of weeks. This is great news for the techies like us that want to tinker and try out new software. Chrome OS will probably be in beta and will not be ready for production machines but nevertheless I am excited to see what Google will come up with. Google has huge financing behind them and it is nice to see such a large company supporting Linux and creating their own operating system based on it. This puts Google in direct competition with Microsoft Windows. Google Chrome will initially be for netbooks but the potential here is amazing. If they create a great product desktop computers will be running Google Chrome OS too. The question is if Google will be able to create something great. The Linux community already has successful distributions such as Fedora, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Mandriva, Sabayon etc. Will Google be able to create a better product? I hope so and can't wait to try out Google Chrome OS soon.
